This month, Luna Hormone Health is focusing on skin and we’re hosting another gathering to bring skin-related information to you!

In her latest blog post, Maggie wrote:

“Estrogen isn’t just a reproductive hormone; it’s also a silent architect behind your skin’s texture, elasticity, and hydration. As its levels fall, the shift shows up on our faces and bodies.”

A lot can impact the health of our skin, especially those of us with existing conditions. I’ve been managing eczema for over 30 years, so skin issues are a hot topic for me. Beyond hormonal changes, allergens in the environment, temperature, what we eat and the products we use may lead to dryness, itchiness, cracking, redness, etc.

Considering all of this, I decided to follow advice often given when you’re tackling a major project - focus on one issue at a time.

Hands are challenging because they get into everything we use, right? I’ve struggled with keeping the eczema on my hands from flaring up, plus I wash my hands a LOT which doesn’t help. Finding soap to use at the sink and in the shower seemed like a logical first step.

I was determined to investigate soap products that could help my condition AND do not contain ingredients which are harmful to my overall health. It didn’t take long for my initial enthusiasm to turn to discouragement. With an abundance of resources at our fingertips, I was going down rabbit holes and coming up with more questions than answers.

Here’s where the Luna community comes in…

At Luna’s event last month, I had an insightful conversation with a community member about skin and skin care products. They told me about the benefits of glycerin - it’s a humectant which means it helps trap water and, thus, keep skin moist. It’s found in a lot of soap products, but often with many other ingredients that actually strip the skin of its ability to trap moisture.

I wasted no time in conducting an online search that eventually led me to a soap maker specializing in fragrance-free glycerin and oatmeal products, plus they use minimal and non-harmful ingredients. Eureka! The products checked all of my boxes, so I ordered a few bars and am hopeful to see if I notice any improvement. I’ll share my findings with all of you soon!

And now here’s the scoop on Luna’s next gathering…
